CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers have grown with young Tyrese Maxey as he becomes a big-time player in this league. In just his second season, he has taken leaps and bounds forward.
Taking on more responsibility as the starting point guard amid the Ben Simmons saga and then having to change positions with the arrival of James Harden, Maxey is averaging 17.6 points and 4.5 assists. He is shooting 42.3% from deep after shooting just 30.1% as a rookie. He has taken off as a 21-year old.
All of this has come with hard work, but it has also come from taking a lot of criticism. He gets yelled at in practice and in games as he looks to continue to grow, and he has his teammates in his ear early and often.
