Sixers praise Seth Curry for his aggressiveness in win over Hawks

The Philadelphia 76ers were happy with Seth Curry’s play in their win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Seth Curry is one of the more important pieces on the team in terms of their spacing. He is an elite sharpshooter who gets a ton of open looks thanks to the play of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and when he gets those open looks, he has to take advantage.

He did take advantage on Wednesday as he scored 20 points while knocking down four triples in a 127-83 win over the Atlanta Hawks at home. Curry shot made three triples in the first quarter to set the tone and Philadelphia was able to run away with a win easily.

This is the best Curry has really looked since the first stretch of the season as he has been battling nagging injuries as well as COVID all throughout the season.

“He’s more aggressive,” said coach Doc Rivers. “He looks like he has more energy, he’s looking for his shot which we want him to do. We encourage him to do it, obviously. He looks good.”

Wednesday was also a rare day when the Sixers had all five of their starters out there. They have been dealing with a lot of injuries up and down the lineup and that can throw the rhythm off for a guy like Curry who relies on being able to get into the flow of things on offense.

“I feel pretty good,” said Curry. “I’m getting my legs and getting in better shape as I’m able to string more games together. It’s just about getting healthy and getting stronger and figuring it out as we go into the playoffs as a team. We have our whole group out there, everybody’s just more comfortable.”

Over these final 10 games of the season, the Sixers should be focusing on getting Curry into a rhythm. They need him to be able to carry this type of momentum into the postseason and be able to knock down the many open looks he is able to create.

The Sixers will take on the Hawks again on Friday at home.
