With training camp for the 2021-22 season set to begin in about a month, now is when the offseason is at its quietest. Most of the moves have been made and teams are just getting ready for camp.
To pass the time, Sixers Wire is looking back at some of the best moments in Philadelphia 76ers’ playoff history. Many legends have passed through this city and organization, and we are highlighting some of their bigger moments.
This edition takes it back to the 2003 NBA playoffs when the Sixers entered as the No. 4 seed in a matchup with the New Orleans Hornets — now Pelicans — and Philadelphia was led by none other than Allen Iverson.
The 6-foot guard from Georgetown was absolutely masterful. He dropped 55 points on the Hornets and did it rather efficiently. He shot 21-for-32 from the floor and he knocked down three 3s while dishing out eight assists to lead Philadelphia to a 98-90 win in Game 1.
The Sixers eliminated the Hornets in six games, and Iverson averaged 34.8 points per game in the series while shooting 44.4% from the floor. New Orleans had no answers for the former league MVP. It was a solid playoff run for Philadelphia, but they fell to the tougher Detroit Pistons in six games in the second round.
