Sixers’ Nick Nurse, Kyle Lowry address Patrick Beverley’s recent comments

Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse and guard Kyle Lowry address Patrick Beverley’s recent comments about the team.

CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers sent Patrick Beverley to the Milwaukee Bucks at the deadline in a deal that netted them Cam Payne and a second-round pick.

Beverly was a helpful player, but President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey stated the Sixers saw his role diminishing as time went on. The Sixers have since moved on, as Beverley has with the Bucks, given it is time to prepare for the stretch run.

On his podcast, “The Pat Bev Pod”, Beverley said he got a call from Sixers forward Tobias Harris, and Harris asked him what the difference was in Milwaukee. Beverley threw some shade at the Sixers saying that the Bucks are focused more on winning a championship rather than individual stats.

“I don’t really have a comment on that,” said coach Nick Nurse at practice on Wednesday. “I know exactly what my mindset is and Daryl’s and Elton’s (Brand) and Joel’s (Embiid) and Tyrese’s (Maxey) and Kyle Lowry’s and what our guys — that’s that’s his opinion. That’s fine. I know we’re here every day working to win a title.”

Speaking of Lowry, that was another factor of all of this that Beverley took exception to. He was upset that Nurse went out and got his guy and that he is going to be all over Lowry when the Sixers and Bucks match up on Feb. 25.

“I love Pat,” Lowry said at practice. “I think Pat is the ultimate competitor. I think Pat is fiery, but his podcast is great. I’m not a podcast watcher, but he’s a friend of mine and that’s his competitive nature, so looking forward to the opportunity of playing against him as always and it’s just basketball. It’s his competitive nature.”

The Sixers and the Bucks will match up on Sunday and it will be interesting to see how things go on the floor for both teams.
