Philadelphia 76ers rookie Matisse Thybulle has captured the attention of a lot of NBA fans as he has been documenting life inside the bubble in Orlando as the league gets set to resume. He has been doing so with a YouTube channel that he created specifically for life in the bubble and the attention he has received landed him on Good Morning America.
Thybulle joined the crew, which includes former NFL star Michael Strahan, and he described Orlando bubble life almost like high school.
In high school, no one really loves waking up early, going to class, and doing homework, but you’re all kind of in it together so you just make the most of it. That’s the kind of situation we find ourselves in now.
There’s different bubbles and the bubble that me and my team are in, we can go fishing, there’s a little pool, we can play cornhole, and then we have this one restaurant that we all like to go to and get our fancy dinners. So, it’s cool. We don’t have a lot of options, but we make the most of what we have.
As far as Thybulle’s rookie season goes, a lot of his older teammates have said that he will still be a rookie next season due to the weirdness of this current one. He would not have played a full 82 games so he would be considered a rookie next season. Thybulle was not having that.
I see that as my worst nightmare. For me, I see this COVID season as the second of my first season. So next year, I’m not hearing it from anybody. I’m no longer a rookie.
