With the NBA in an indefinite hiatus due to COVID-19, we continue our day-by-day look back at the history of the Philadelphia 76ers. We continue down our path into Sixers history every day as we look to fill the void left by the absence of basketball.
We take you back to 1985 with this throwback edition as the Sixers were taking on the Milwaukee Bucks in Round 2 of the playoffs. Philadelphia had won the first two games on the road and were in a great position as the series shifted. That does not mean the Bucks would just back down led by legitimate stars like Terry Cummings, Sidney Moncrief, and Paul Pressey. However, Philadelphia just had a little bit more in this one.

The Sixers were two years removed from their championship in 1983 and they still had Julius Erving and Moses Malone to lead the way. Their play was fantastic in order to allow Philadelphia to take a 2-0 lead. However, in this game, their rookie star made the big plays to lead them to a win.
Charles Barkley hopped off the bench and had 19 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and four assists to help Philadelphia beat the Bucks 109-104 and take a 3-0 lead. Andrew Toney led the Sixers with 20 points and Erving also had 19 and eight rebounds, but Barkley was the standout in this one.
The Sixers then went on to finish off a sweep of Milwaukee, with Barkley averaging 17.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in the series, and head to the Eastern Conference Finals. They were then dispatched by the Boston Celtics in five games. [lawrence-related id=30374,30366,30344]
