Sixers have stopped fining star Ben Simmons for missing practice

The Philadelphia 76ers have stopped fining Ben Simmons for missing practice.

The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to move forward with the 2021-22 season amid the saga surrounding Ben Simmons. The 25-year old All-Star is now taking steps to help his mental health and help to get mentally ready to get back out on the floor to help the team.

While the Sixers move forward, they have understood that they now must help Simmons and give him all of the resources to help him move forward. The Sixers want him on the floor with the team in order to help them win games while he also boosts his trade value for the deal that he wants.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports that the Sixers are not fining him anymore for his missing practices as he continues to work through his issues:

Some of this … is because of a standard provision in player contracts that says if you’re dealing with a mental health issue, which Ben Simmons has reported to the team that he is, he wants to work on himself mentally and physically this week, they’ve taken that in good faith and said ‘OK, we’re taking that that you are working on yourself menatlly and physically and we’ve offered resources available to you’.

It is clear that the Sixers are trying to mend the fences a bit after everything that has transpired over the past couple of months. Philadelphia has wanted to make sure they get the fair value in return for whenever they do find a trade for him. In order to do that, they have to help him return to the floor and get back to playing again.
