CAMDEN, N.J. — Philadelphia 76ers reserve big man Georges Niang has been one of the more consistent players for the Sixers. He averages 9.5 points per game and is shooting a blistering 43.6% from deep, so his availability is very important to what this team wants to do.
Niang recently missed two games after suffering a foot issue in a Dec. 5 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. In two games since his return, he has made five of his 10 attempts from deep.
He played 25:32 in Tuesday’s win over the Sacramento Kings and that was a big step for Niang.
“The last game was kind of like the game where I really got to push my conditioning,” he said at practice on Thursday. “Really get my minutes up there to test my lungs and I felt really good after that. Today, we got in here, we practiced, and got up and down and that felt good.”
Sitting those two games were helpful. He believes he is ready to go for the rest of the season. There is still so much basketball left to be played, so who knows if the injury will pop up again, but the Sixers will need him ready to roll.
“I feel 100%,” he finished. “I think those two games were huge for me to kind of just heal and rest my foot, so I can be 100% ready to go the rest of the year.”
