Sixers’ Furkan Korkmaz bounces back in EuroBasket following altercation

Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz had a big bounce-back game as Turkey knocked off Belgium on Tuesday.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz has had a very eventful EuroBasket 2022. While representing his native country of Turkey, Korkmaz has battled adversity, including an ejection and an altercation on Sunday.

Korkmaz got into it with Georgian wing player Duda Sanadze and was followed into the tunnel by Sanadze, Tornike Shengelia and Goga Bitadze as well as security personnel. While that could be a lot to handle, the Sixers veteran stepped back onto the floor on Tuesday and went to work rather quickly.

Korkmaz scored 11 points in the first 13 minutes against Belgium. He was smooth coming off screens and knocking down jumpers.

Overall, Korkmaz finished with 16 points and five rebounds. He was a plus-23 on the floor as Turkey knocked off Belgium, 78-63. This was his best game of the tournament and something he can continue to grow from as EuroBasket play continues.
