By now, everybody understands what the Philadelphia 76ers are up against. They are currently the 6 seed in the Eastern Conference and are in an uphill battle to try and get home-court advantage in the playoffs as they are down three starters.
Despite being down Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Josh Richardson, the team understands that they need to win some basketball games. Coach Brett Brown is ready to take on this challenge of learning more about his roster along with trying to win some basketball games.
“It has to or I feel like I’m looking at all of this the wrong way,” Brown said. “My message to the team is that it’s really how I’ve convinced myself to think. I liked what I saw the other night in relation to a spirit and a purpose and extracting as much as we could from the group that we had on, it still doesn’t minimize the need to win.”
Winning is a big thing for this team right now. They have lost nine games in a row on the road, six of those games with Simmons and Embiid healthy. they are 9-23 on the road overall, and being the 6 seed is not what this team envisioned at the beginning of the season.
While they figure out how they are going to make the move up the standings, they will try and work out other pieces and see if they can produce. For example, Shake Milton who made NBA history on Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers. They can also give Furkan Korkmaz an expanded role and Glenn Robinson III as well.
“We obviously are still at a stage we want to win, but with the group that we have, there is an exciting challenge,” Brown continued. “As we saw an opportunity that somebody like shake, grabbed in a very pronounced way the other night.”
They will look to try and snap their road skid on Thursday when they head to the Golden 1 Center to face the Sacramento Kings at 10:00 p.m. EST. [lawrence-related id=27126,27149,27141]
