The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the many teams in the NBA dealing with players sidelined by COVID-19 and in the league’s protocols. They have four players in the health and safety protocol due to positive tests. Three of the four are reserves, but they are key to the team’s success.
Shake Milton, Andre Drummond, Georges Niang and Danny Green are the four and it is difficult to predict when any of them could come back. The good news is they are taking the proper precautions to ensure they are healthy.
“Everyone’s good,” said coach Doc Rivers before Thursday’s matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. “I think Shake had symptoms. Danny said he felt normal. Georges said he felt normal today (Thursday).”
Furkan Korkmaz, who recently returned from the flu, said on Thursday morning he has been in contact with the guys in the protocol. They are feeling alright, and there appears to be hope the Sixers could get them back sooner rather than later.
“I was talking to Shake,” said Korkmaz. “Andre, I don’t think he’s that bad because what he was saying yesterday (Wednesday), he’s not that bad. He said he doesn’t have the symptoms, but I don’t know about today because he told me like yesterday for the team. I’m going to talk to Shake again.”
The Sixers begin a three-game road trip on Sunday against the Washington Wizards.
