Sixers ban fans who provoked Wizards’ Isaiah Thomas to go into stands

The Philadelphia 76ers have banned the fans who started with Isaiah Thomas.

Toward the end of the Philadelphia 76ers win over the Washington Wizards, things got a little ugly as a couple of fans provoked Wizards guard Isaiah Thomas a bit after he ruined the Sixers’ promotional “Wendy’s Frosty Freeze Out”.

The way it works is if the opposing team misses two consecutive free throws in the second half, the entire arena gets a free frosty. Thomas missed his first shot from the line, but then made his second which then caused a fan to show some obscenities and use foul language against him. Thomas then went into the stands to confront the fans and he was then ejected from the game.

The Sixers then acted quickly by banning the two fans who provoked Thomas for 12 months and then revoking the season tickets from the season ticket holder who gave the two fans the tickets to the game.

After it was over on Saturday, Thomas gave his side of the story and he said he was calm about his business.

At the end of the day, the Sixers did the right thing. There is no place for that in professional sports and now the Sixers can move on. It’s unfortunate for the fans, but they needed to be reprimanded for their actions. [lawrence-related id=21900,21887,21877]
