Sixers advise players, coaches to begin temporary self-quarantine

The Philadelphia 76ers have advised their team to test for COVID-19.

The aftermath of the NBA suspension continues to pour in around the league and for the Philadelphia 76ers, that means a self-imposed quarantine.

After their matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night in Philadelphia, a report came out that Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus which then triggered the league to suspend all activity.

Due to the Pistons’ recent matchup with the Jazz on Saturday, there is some concern that they might have contracted it and passed it over to the Sixers. Therefore, the team has advised players, coaches, and support staff to go into self-quarantine in order to try and stop the spread of the virus.

This is a crazy time around the NBA as things will be stopped for at least 30 days before the league reassesses what their next step will be. When that happens, it will be April and then the league will have to decide whether it’s safe to resume basketball activity, what to do with the regular season, and what to do for the future.

It is an uncertain and unprecedented time in the league. [lawrence-related id=27557,27547,27541]
