The Philadelphia 76ers are entering a new era in their franchise’s history led by new President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey and new coach Doc Rivers. The Sixers will be looking to turn it around on the floor after a tough season.

One positive that came out for Philadelphia was the fact that they were able to land a first-round draft pick thanks to the success of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The pick was top 20 protected and it landed at 21 to give the Sixers an asset in their pocket.

Morey, of course, could trade this pick as he is a guy who is known to make bold moves such as giving up first-round picks in order to help his team win now. After all, with players such as Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, they are expected to win right away.

In the case that they keep and make the pick, The Ringer has put out a new mock draft and they have the Sixers selecting Arizona wing player Josh Green. In his freshman season for the Wildcats, he averaged 12.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 36.1% from deep.

The Ringer on the pick:

Green can play with anyone as a high-IQ wing who cuts, passes, and shoots like a savvy veteran. The Sixers need as many players like Green as they can find; thankfully, the 2020 draft class has plenty of options.

Good spot-up 3-point shooter who boasts the touch to hit easy pull-ups. Nifty player with a natural feel for making behind-the-back passes or spinning into a shot, though he needs to settle for fewer floaters. Energetic on-ball defender with good footwork and anticipatory skills, mirroring movements of his opponent.

The basketball IQ point is going to be big for any potential Sixers addition. They have to be able to move off the ball and find open spots on the floor for Simmons to be able to find them as well as give space for Embiid to operate.

In terms of his shooting, as long as he can find his spot on the floor and be able to knock down spot-up looks from deep, that will be perfect next to Simmons. The 6-foot-10 star has excellent vision and he will be able to make the most of what Green has to offer. [lawrence-related id=38844,38840,38834]
