The Philadelphia 76ers officially have the 21st pick in the 2020 NBA Draft due to the surprising success of the Oklahoma City Thunder and they have different routes they can go with this pick. One of those options is an aggressive guard who can put the ball on the floor and create for himself and others.

A guy that fits that mold is TCU guard Desmond Bane who has been a guy considered as a sleeper for the Sixers with this first-round pick. He is a guy who has been a little underrated heading into this draft and if he is there at 21, the Sixers cannot let him pass.

Led by Bryan Kalbrosky over at our sister site, Rookie Wire, they have put together a Big Board for the 2020 draft and Bane comes in ranked 15th on out of the top prospects.

Kalbrosky on Bane:

For a league more and more defined by its shooting, it is easy to predict the success that TCU’s Desmond Bane will have at the next level considering his ability to shoot off the dribble. He told HoopsHype:

“I make shots, I defend, I rebound. That’s my game, really. But I make shots in a variety of ways, whether it is off the bounce or on catch and shoots or running off screens. Or I find my teammates after a shot fake and they are in the lane and someone is open. And then I play with a high motor on the defensive end. So even if I am giving up the length or giving up quickness, I’m going to be able to use my frame and my motor to get the job done. I bring a lot to the table that can help me really contribute right away.”

Even though he is older, our intel suggests that more proven players will be valued in a draft class otherwise marred by uncertainty.

Bane averaged 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in his senior season for the Horned Frogs so he has shown off an ability to create for himself as well as others. Those abilities would work beautifully in a pick-and-roll with Ben Simmons as opposing defenses would have a tough time with that.
