Free agent shooter Langston Galloway would be a nice fit for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The free agency period is set to begin in the NBA shortly after the November 18 draft. It promises to be a wild time as the deals promise to come in quickly as teams make moves to improve their rosters.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be active on the market as well to try and get their team back on the championship path, but they won’t have a lot of money to use in terms of cap space. They will have roughly $6 million to roll with this offseason so they will have to be smart about how they use that space.

The team has obvious needs with the biggest need coming on the offensive end as they struggled spacing the floor. They need some shooting in the worst way to give Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid some space to operate.

One guy who fits that mold? Langston Galloway who had a solid season shooting 39.9% from deep for a bad Detroit Pistons team.

The Athletic’s John Hollinger had this to say about Galloway’s free agency prospects:

Galloway doesn’t check a box right away because he’s just 6-1 and isn’t a point guard. But he quietly pieced together a very good 2019-20 for a forgettable Pistons team and should be a desirable third or fourth guard in this market. He’s a particularly good fit for teams that have a big, ballhandling wing, which enables Galloway to defend the opposing point guard without having to initiate offense.

The value proposition here is as a 3-and-D guard, basically. Galloway can stroke it, making 39.9 percent from distance last season on high volume, but he’s not just hunting buckets. Galloway is also a feisty defender who holds his own in most matchups despite a size disadvantage.

Galloway would most likely come cheap which would allow the Sixers to make another minor move in order to upgrade the roster. He is a player who could flourish playing next to Simmons who does a great job of setting up the shooters on his team. [lawrence-related id=38947,38941,38938]
