On Tuesday evening, a report by The Wolverine’s Chris Balas surfaced indicating that Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh expects to be offered by the Minnesota Vikings and will formally accept the job upon receiving an official offer after his Wednesday interview. Meaning his Wolverines tenure looks to have come to an end after seven years in Ann Arbor.
Not so fast, a prominent national writer has proclaimed.
SI.com’s Pat Forde is reporting that might not quite be a done deal according to his sources, Harbaugh has yet to make a decision on whether or not he’ll accept the Vikings job if offered.

However, in our estimation, that feels like typical hedging that happens when reports like this come out prematurely. Especially in the wake of reports that Brian Flores is suing the NFL (and the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants) alleging racism in hiring practices. The Vikings, Harbaugh’s presumed new team, announced it had a 9-hour interview with minority candidate Patrick Graham, who was most recently the New York Giants’ defensive coordinator. Of course, if Harbaugh was given indication that he would be offered the job before his second interview, it could give legs to Flores’ lawsuit.
Either way, given the veracity of The Wolverine’s Chris Balas, we’re inclined to believe that Harbaugh is NFL-bound, with the Vikings being the destination barring some unforeseen circumstances.
Regardless, stay tuned until it becomes official.
