Should strength of schedule factor into the Heisman race?

The LSU Tigers have the No. 1 strength of schedule in the NCAA this season.

The LSU Tigers have the No. 1 strength of schedule in the NCAA this season (11.9), but does that matter when it comes to voting for the Heisman Trophy?

[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] has thrown for over 3,000 yards and run for over 1,000 yards in only 10 games for LSU. Yet he finds himself in a battle for the Heisman with Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr.

The Washington Huskies have the No. 13 strength of schedule (8.5) in the country and the Oregon Ducks have the No. 15 strength of schedule (8.1). Neither of those teams is even in the same ballpark as LSU yet Daniels has put up better numbers than Nix and Penix Jr. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] was asked if he thought the strength of schedule played a factor in deciding the Heisman recently.

“Well, I think that there’s so many different things that people look at,” Kelly said. “You know, when they have a ballot, they’re looking at strength to schedule, they’re looking at wins and losses, they’re looking at consistency and performance. And I think if you examine it, you know, I think there’s so many different components.

“But when you break it down, it’s the eye test as well. So I could probably agree with a number of different components, but when a guy takes over a game and in the manner that (Jayden Daniels) has all year, I think that that really shifts it more so than, you know, really getting down to specifics.”

Daniels will play his last game in Tiger Stadium on Saturday against Texas A&M.
