For reasons that make sense to few, rumors surrounding quarterback Tom Brady potentially joining the New York Giants have persisted at the 2020 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
In fact, several executives, coaches and scouts have even suggested that the Giants could very legitimately turn out to be a potential suitor for Brady if he and the New England Patriots can not get a contract done.
Why? Probably because of Joe Judge’s presence in East Rutherford. After all, nothing else about these rumors seem logical. And you can now add Shannon Sharpe to the list of people who believe it’s all lunacy.
"I don't see this happening. It's pie in the sky, and probably rhubarb because it ain't no kind of pie that anybody is gonna eat." 🤣🤣🤣

“It doesn’t make any sense, to me, because — look, they have OK weapons,” Sharpe said Thursday on FS1;s Undisputed. “I like (Darius) Slayton. They have Golden Tate, they have Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, but their offensive line is terrible. He got beat up last year. The one thing I’m gonna want — I want weapons, but I need some protection so I can throw the ball to those weapons. That makes no sense to me.
“I just don’t see it. ‘Oh, well Joe Judge is there.’ How much talking to do you think Tom Brady did with Joe Judge, who was a receivers coach and at one point in time I think he was special teams coordinator. C’mon, man. Stop this. . . I don’t see the Giants doing it. They just took a quarterback with the sixth pick in the draft. They got rid of the guy that won them two Super Bowls. Well, he retired, but the writing was on the wall. He didn’t want to be a backup. So I don’t see this happening. It’s pie in the sky.”
It’s not even pie in the sky. It’s just people saying things for the sake of saying them. Right?
The fact that the Brady to Giants rumors simply won’t die suggests that at the very least, Brady’s camp is using New York as potential leverage. Of course, there could be some additional fire to the smoke, however unlikely and ridiculous that seems.
The bottom line? While the speculation is fun, there’s next to no chance Brady actually signs with the Giants this offseason.
