[autotag]Shane van Gisbergen[/autotag] won in his NASCAR debut at the Chicago Street Course in July 2023 and it turned into a developmental deal with Trackhouse Racing. van Gibsergen will compete in select events within the top 3 levels of NASCAR while participating in some late-model races. As of November 2023, the New Zealand driver’s schedule for 2024 has yet to be determined.
However, there is one thing that is clearly on van Gisbirgen’s mind. According to Speed Cafe’s Daniel Herrero, van Gisbergen said he will do a part-time schedule of around 20 races in 2024 with eyes on becoming a full-time driver in the NASCAR Cup Series during the 2025 season. The Trackhouse Racing driver wants to compete at the sport’s top level.
As for Trackhouse Racing, there are four drivers (van Gisbergen, Ross Chastain, Daniel Suarez, Zane Smith) competing for what is expected to be three spots in 2025. It is reasonable to suggest that Smith will move over so would van Gisbergen replace Suarez? There is a lot to transpire before that point but van Gibsergen clearly knows what he wants to accomplish next.
