Shane McMahon’s son says he’d be the best McMahon grandchild in WWE: ‘The story’s already written’

Shane McMahon’s son, Declan McMahon, thinks he’d be the best McMahon grandchild in WWE.

Shane McMahon’s son, Declan McMahon, attends Indiana University as a student-athlete, playing on the school’s football team. However, he recently shared a photo featuring him holding an Indiana University-themed title belt and a WWE title belt, and he made an appearance on WWE TV earlier this year, so he’s hardly shying from the family business.

Declan McMahon recently said he wouldn’t rule out a career in pro wrestling — confidently saying he’d excel. Taking it one step further, when asked by Developmentally Speaking which of Shane and Stephanie McMahon’s children is most likely to join WWE, Declan chose himself and said he’d be the best of the bunch (h/t Fightful for transcription).

“Oh, probably me. I mean, the story, the story’s already written, right? I mean, the rightful heir, the good-looking — the one who looks like Vince, right? So, I think, just in the sense that you could play off the WrestleMania 20 [intro], right, like I posted on Twitter, right? You could play that off and just show that like, the new generation [of] McMahon has arrived. I think in that sense, I would. We have such a great family, and we’re all so supportive of each other. So I think, I think really, any of us could potentially want to do it. You know, I know Aurora, Paul’s oldest daughter, Triple H’s oldest daughter, she’s always talked about wanting to do it, but in having my dad and my grandpa’s ego, I think I’d be the best.”

He doesn’t elude the comparisons to his well-known grandfather, Vince McMahon, and he knows the built-in family story if he ever becomes a WWE talent. This once upon a time happened in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when Shane and Stephanie McMahon became prominent faces on WWE television, and if Declan McMahon ever wants to, he could probably follow the same path.

It is uncertain when, or if, this will happen, especially if Declan decides to pursue an NFL career after college. But he sounds self-assured in his abilities, so who knows — maybe we see him continue the McMahon-WWE lineage.
