Shams: Former Celtic Tacko Fall headed back to CBA with Nanjing Monkey Kings

Fall is headed back to the CBA after trying to get back to the NBA this offseason.

Per the Athletic’s Shams Charania, former Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall is poised to return to the Chinese Basketball Association after an offseason trying unsuccessfully to get back into the NBA.

Fall, who played in China during the 2022-23 season, has signed a deal with the Nanjing Monkey Kings. He previously played in the CBA for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers on a one-year contract.

After a solid college career at the University of Central Florida, Fall went unselected in the 2019 NBA draft but signed with the Celtics as a two-way player after a strong showing that offseason in the club’s training camp.

The Senegalese center spent a pair of seasons with Boston as before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers in a similar role for the 2021-22 season.

From there, he joined the CBA with Xinjiang, where he has carved out a niche for himself in the league he has yet to at the NBA level.
