The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the Boston Celtics have tendered a training camp deal to former Chicago Bulls point guard Ryan Arcidiacono, who has accepted the offer.
Arcidiacono was signed by Chicago as an undrafted guard prospect who won a national title under Jay Wright in 2016 and spent the next four seasons with the Bulls as a reserve guard. Due to the length of time the Philadelphia native spent in the league, he is no longer eligible for the Celtics’ open two way roster spot — meaning former No. 3 pick Jabari Parker and ex-Celtics center Luke Kornet will have some serious competition for the team’s 15th regular roster slot.
Standing at 6-foot-3 with a career average of 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 37.3% from deep and 53.7% overall, Arcidiacono is a legitimate NBA third guard.

But it’s hard to see how he would crack the rotation of the Celtics’ currently crowded backcourt barring further moves around the margins, which a successful conversion from camp deal to regular-season roster spot might signal.
