Former Chicago point guard Ryan Arcidiacono signing with Windy City Bulls

Arcidiacono is rejoining the Bulls to play for the ball club’s G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.

A familiar face is rejoining the ranks of the Chicago Bulls, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Former New York Knicks point guard Ryan Arcidiacono is rejoining the Bulls to play for the ball club’s G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.

It is something of a full circle moment with the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova in 2017. The Arch of Dimes (as Arcidiacono is sometimes called) has since also played for the Portland Trail Blazers at the NBA level. The 6-foot-3, 29-year-old floor general played so few minutes in his last stop that it is hard to get an idea of his production with a greater opportunity — just 2.3 minutes per game.

But Arcidiacono has career averages of 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game which were similar to his play at similar stops as recently as last season with the Blazers.

At this stage of his career it seems unlikely that we will see too much of Arcidiacono at the NBA level with the Bulls. But the Philly native could find luck trying to rehab his career at that level, even if not necessarily with Chicago.

Former Boston Celtic Ryan Arcidiacono re-signs with the New York Knicks

The Villanova product played a spate of preseason games with the Celtics last season but didn’t stick with the team.

One more former member of the Boston Celtics backcourt has found a team for the 2022-23 NBA season according to a press release from the New York Knicks.

Guard Ryan Arcidiacono signed a contract to return to the Knicks, who had picked him up from the Maine Celtics at the end of last season.

Arcidiacono had been playing with Boston’s G League team as an affiliate player. He had signed with the Celtics for the 2021-22 preseason, but The Arch of Dimes did not see the court with the parent club.

The Langhorne, Pennsylvania native has averaged 4.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game over the course of his pro career to date.

Celtics reportedly waive Ryan Arcidiacono, Juwan Morgan; sign Chris Clemons to exhibit-10 deal

The team inches closer to its 2021-22 regular-season roster.

The Boston Celtics are waiving camp invitees Ryan Arcidiacono and Juwan Morgan according to The Athletic’s Jay King. It seems probable that Morgan will end up with the Maine Red Claws as an affiliate player, while Arcidiacono’s future is less clear given he has no two way eligibility remaining.

The Athletic’s Jared Weiss reported Thursday evening that point guard Chris Clemons was signed by the team to an exhibit-10 deal, which is usually done to retain affiliate rights to a player in the G League (Tacko Fall is a rare example of such a player making the team as a two way player from such a deal) as the team inches closer to finalizing its 2021-22 regular-season roster.

Clemons had seen his previous two way deal with the Houston Rockets converted to a full NBA contract in 2019-20 before tearing his Achilles tendon.

The team now stands at 19 regular, two way or camp deals, and will need to slim down by two more players to make it to the regular-season limit of 17 total players counting two way players.

It seems likely that Boston will at least consider one of Theo Pinson and Garrison Mathews for its remaining two way slot, with veteran forward Jabari Parker’s prospects looking brighter after having survived this round of cuts.

Boston Celtics announce training camp roster

The Boston Celtics have released their 20-person training camp roster, including four official signings and one cut.

The Boston Celtics have released their 2021-22 training camp roster, officially signing Ryan Arcidiacono, Garrison Matthews, Theo Pinson and Juwan Morgan to fill out the final 20-person roster.

The rest of the roster is made up of nine returning players, with mainstays like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, as well as new additions Al Horford, Josh Richardson, Dennis Schroder, Juancho Hernangomez and Enes Kanter. Rookie Sam Hauser also made the cut. Notably, Luke Kornet is not named on the roster, despite previous reports saying he was set to participate in training camp. Forbes’ Chris Grenham reported that the Celtics may keep Kornet on an Exhibit 10 deal, however.

He is not eligible for a two-way contract. Kornet was acquired at last year’s deadline in a deal that sent Daniel Theis and Javonte Green to the Chicago Bulls.

Here is the Celtics full roster:

All of the Celtics additions have NBA experience. Arcidiacono has the most of the bunch, spending four years coming off the bench for Chicago.

The Celtics kick off preseason on Oct. 4 against the Orlando Magic home at TD Garden.

WATCH: Boston Celtics training camp invitee Ryan Arcidiacono 2020-21 highlights

The former Bulls guard will try to play his way onto the Celtics’ roster in camp.

The last time you may have noticed former Villanova star Ryan Arcidiacono was during his 2016 NCAA title run with the Wildcats under famed head coach Jay Wright. You might even have gotten an occasional peek at his skills during a contest against the Chicago Bulls in recent years, but if you are like most Celtics fans, you don’t have an especially large body of work to draw on when you heard the news Arcidiacono would sign a training camp deal with the Celtics.

But the Philadelphia native is a legitimate NBA point guard if still unpolished, with career averages of 4.8 points, 2 boards, and 2.2 assists per game with a 37.3% 3-point shot.

If you want to get to know his game better, watch the video embedded below put together by fan-favorite YouTube videographer Tomasz Kordylewski ahead of the former Bull’s fight to make the roster in the Celtics’ 2021-22 training camp.

Shams: Former Bulls guard Ryan Arcidiacono accepts camp deal from Boston Celtics

The Villanova product is a legitimate NBA third option, but where would he fit in Boston’s busy backcourt rotation?

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the Boston Celtics have tendered a training camp deal to former Chicago Bulls point guard Ryan Arcidiacono, who has accepted the offer.

Arcidiacono was signed by Chicago as an undrafted guard prospect who won a national title under Jay Wright in 2016 and spent the next four seasons with the Bulls as a reserve guard. Due to the length of time the Philadelphia native spent in the league, he is no longer eligible for the Celtics’ open two way roster spot — meaning former No. 3 pick Jabari Parker and ex-Celtics center Luke Kornet will have some serious competition for the team’s 15th regular roster slot.

Standing at 6-foot-3 with a career average of 4.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 37.3% from deep and 53.7% overall, Arcidiacono is a legitimate NBA third guard.

But it’s hard to see how he would crack the rotation of the Celtics’ currently crowded backcourt barring further moves around the margins, which a successful conversion from camp deal to regular-season roster spot might signal.

Report: Warriors working out free agent guard Ryan Arcidiacono this week

Before the start of training camp, the Golden State Warriors are reportedly working out former Chicago Bulls guard Ryan Arcidiacono.

Before training camp opens, the Golden State Warriors will continue to look at options for the back end of their roster. After reportedly working out Darren Collison, the Warriors are bringing in another veteran guard for a workout.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors are working out Ryan Arcidiacono this week. Arcidiacono could be an option to compete for the Warriors’ 15th roster spot, per Slater.

Via @anthonyVslater on Twitter:

After going undrafted out of Villanova, Arcidiacono signed a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls in 2017. Arcidiacono spent four seasons with the Bulls, averaging 4.8 points on 43.1% shooting from the floor with 2.2 assists and two rebounds per contest.

During the 2018-19 season, Arcidiacono played a career-high 81 games, averaging 6.7 points on 44.7% shooting from the floor with 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes per game.

If the Warriors opt to sign the 27-year-old, he would compete for a role in Golden State’s backcourt with Damion Lee, Mychal Mulder, Gary Payton II, Chris Chiozza and Moses Moody.

Free agency stock watch: Lonzo Ball, PJ Tucker, Gary Trent Jr. and more

As the 2020-21 NBA season progresses, players around the league are making a case to solidify the earning potential of their next contract.

As the 2020-21 NBA season progresses, players around the league are making a case to solidify the earning potential of their next contract.

Front offices often make decisions based on the “what have you done for me lately?” philosophy, which means that how much a player will receive in free agency is fluid and constantly changing. That means that while some have increased their value, there are others whose recent performances may end up costing them some money.

Of course, an overall body of work is the most important factor for an NBA contract. But for our newest series at HoopsHype, we are looking at whose stock has gone up – and down – over the last several games.
