Shams: Boston Celtics have ‘no interest to split up’ Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum

Much like a certain action film that became an unlikely Christmas classic, the narrative that star Boston Celtics forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum need to be split up is hard to kill. But the Celtics organization is doing its best to do so with Shams Charania reporting that the storied franchise is signaling to opposing teams that they “want to build around” the duo and “have no interest to split up the two All-Star forwards right now.”

Depending on how closely you want to parse Charania’s words, that still leaves the door open to breaking up the pair in the future if struggles continue after other means of improving the team are exhausted to little effect. But for now, The Athletic NBA insider relates that the Celtics “appear open for business around other players on the roster.”

This thinking seems to be in line with what the general consensus seems to be among most analysts as the most logical direction for Boston to take, with improvements around the margins or perhaps consolidatory trades to be made before such drastic measures should be considered.
