[autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] will still get his opportunity to enter the UFC heavyweight rankings.
Gane (6-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will face [autotag]Shamil Abdurakhimov[/autotag] (20-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) on July 11 at a yet-to-be announced UFC event, a person with knowledge of the situation told MMA Junkie on Monday. The news was first reported by French outlet “La Voix des Guerriers.”
The two were initially scheduled to fight at UFC 249, but Gane was forced out due to pneumothorax – a collapsed lung.
The undefeated French prospect has won his first three UFC bouts and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Tanner Boser last December. He will face his sternest test to date when he takes on Dagestan’s Abdurakhimov.
Meanwhile, Abdurakhimov saw his three-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Curtis Blaydes last September. The Russian holds wins over the likes of Walt Harris, Andrei Arlovski and Marcin Tybura.
With the addition, the current lineup includes:
- Amanda Ribas vs. Paige VanZant
- Frankie Edgar vs. Pedro Munhoz
- Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Ciryl Gane
