Shake Milton opens up on what Danny Green, Dwight Howard bring Sixers

Philadelphia 76ers guard Shake Milton is appreciative of what Dwight Howard and Danny Green bring the team.

The Philadelphia 76es brought in Danny Green and Dwight Howard for specific reasons. Green was to provide shooting for the offense to run smoothly while Howard was brought in to provide good backup play behind Joel Embiid so the team doesn’t fall off a cliff when the big fella is out.

However, the two veterans bring more to the team than just their production on the floor. They bring a certain level of professionalism and experience that is needed for a team so young and still growing.

“A big impact,” said third-year guard Shake Milton. “I would say especially off court stuff, really keeping guys glued in, and locked in together.”

Both Green and Howard are coming off a title run with the Los Angeles Lakers and they have four championships combined between the two of them. The Sixers can benefit greatly from whatever piece of advice that either of them has to offer.

On the floor, Green provides the classic 3-and-D play from the shooting guard spot and Howard provides tough, physical play off the bench. Even in the middle of a game, they can lend a hand in helping the team grow.

“On the court as well, just try to soak up any information that you can get from them,” said Milton. “Especially if you’re guarding the same type of player that DG is going to be guarding or what Dwight’s seeing on the back end whenever you’re guarding the pick and roll and stuff like that. You’re always listening to the information and trying to make it happen.”

Green has seemed to have found his legs the last few games after a slow start. He has shot 6-for-14 from deep while also providing tough defense on the other end. Howard continues to play well and he had nine points and 13 rebounds in Philadelphia’s win Monday over the Charlotte Hornets.

Their experience and wisdom are clearly appreciated by the rest of the team and it will be interesting to see all of that rub off on them as the season continues.
