Despite a disappointing ending to the season, Hubert Davis and the coaching staff have North Carolina back on the right track. The 2022-23 season was an absolute disaster for North Carolina, not making the tournament after being the preseason No. 1 team.
But after multiple departures and heavy use of the transfer portal to add talent, the Tar Heels won 29 games, were the ACC regular-season champions and made the Sweet 16. So when the emotions of defeat were flowing in the locker room, we can’t blame them.
And one quote from Seth Trimble really stands out.
Following the game, Trimble was asked about the season ending and the team that they had. He offered up this quite:
Seth Trimble with arguably the most poignant remark from a somber UNC locker room:
"Of course, everybody was ready for last year to be done. Nobody wanted this year to end. So that says a lot."

It speaks volumes about the difference in the 2022-23 team and the 2023-24 team. This team really seemed to enjoy playing together and had a bond not only on the court but also off the court.
And you could just tell that was the case early on.
There are never really any bright spots in losses but it is nice to know that Davis has this thing back on track and with a good recruiting class coming in, the Tar Heels are going in the right direction.
