Former Vol Seth Stephenson makes professional debut.

Former Vol Seth Stephenson made his professional debut Tuesday with the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Lakeland competes in the Florida State League and is a Single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Stephenson went 0-for-3 in Lakeland’s 7-3 loss against the St. Lucie Mets Tuesday. He was hit by a pitch and recorded one stolen base in the contest.

Stephenson was selected by Detroit in the seventh round (No. 207 overall) of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Stephenson appeared in 59 games during the 2022 season at Tennessee. He recorded four home runs, 28 RBIs, 46 runs, 62 hits, 17 doubles, one triple, 15 walks and 25 stolen bases in 2022.

Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference East division for the second consecutive season, the league regular season and tournament championships in 2022.
