Serena Williams a U.S. Open long-shot as tributes pour in ahead of the GOAT’s final tournament

Serena’s next match could be her last. The tennis world isn’t waiting to give the GOAT her flowers.

The historic and inspiring professional tennis career of Serena Williams has reached its final stage. Naturally, it’s one of the biggest stages in all of sports.

Williams enters the U.S. Open on Monday at the age of 40 and with as many eyes on her as ever before. The 23-time Grand Slam singles-winner has already announced she will retire after this month’s tournament in New York City. If her past performance at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is any indication, Serena’s run at the U.S. Open could be a lengthy one.

Since her first appearance at the tournament in 1998, Williams has won it all six times, finished runner-up another four times and fallen during the semifinals four times as well. After a leg injury forced Serena to withdraw from the U.S. Open in 2021, Monday’s match will mark her first match in Queens since reaching the singles semifinals in 2020.

Here’s what you need to know before betting on the GOAT.
