Arguably the biggest need for the Raiders entering the 2020 offseason is at wide receiver. The team needs to add size and speed to the position as Tyrell Williams, and Hunter Renfrow are the only two proven receivers on the roster.

Luckily for the Raiders, the 2020 wide receiver class in this draft is as deep as ever. There are a dozen players or more that could be drafted in the first two rounds, and we may see 20 receivers selected in the top-125 picks.

One player the Raiders could target some time on late Day 2 or early Day 3 of the draft is Texas wide receiver Collin Johnson. During the Senior Bowl practices, Johnson was clearly one of the best receivers in Mobile, showing off his massive catch radius. During the weigh-ins, Johnson measured at 6’6, 220 pounds, but showed impressive body control and route-running skills.

In a recent article by Chris Roling of Bleacher Report, he matched some of the top Senior Bowl standouts to NFL teams based on fit. Roling named Johnson as a potential pick for the Raiders with his explanation below:

(Collin) Johnson seems like a middle-round target that teams in need of receiving help will pursue after refusing to spend major money on the position in free agency. The Las Vegas Raiders, for example, will want to keep beefing up a group featuring a steady presence in Hunter Renfrow.

It does seem likely that the Raiders will address their receiver need in the 2020 draft, but expect it to be earlier than the third or fourth round. However, it’s very likely the team doubles up at the position as they desperately need to add youth to the position. Given his size and pedigree, look for Johnson to be a potential target for the Raiders.
