After a thrilling Kentucky Derby just a few weeks ago that saw one of the biggest longshot winners in the illustrious history of the race in Rich Strike, we’re on to the second leg of the triple crown with the Preakness Stakes on Saturday.
Unfortunately, there is no hopeful for the crown this year, as Rich Strike’s team chose not to compete in the 147th Preakness, which has been held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore since 1873. Still, there is sure to be a lot of excitement both before, during and after the race.
The post time is set for 7:01 p.m. ET, and the race will be televised on NBC. But the festivities began long before then, with fans pouring into the stadium early. Like the Kentucky Derby, which is known for its extravagant fashion statements, most notably the hats, folks were creative with their race-day get-ups.
