The New York Giants had held a few Zoom calls with Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas and met with him at the NFL Combine, but beyond that, the contact was somewhat limited.
Needless to say, Thomas had no idea where he’d be selected on Thursday night, let alone that it was the football Giants who would come calling.
The surprise, elation and excitement of Thomas and his family when that moment came… It was a special.

Giants director of college scouting Chris Pettit: “You ready to become a part of a championship team?”
Andrew Thomas: “Yes sir. I’m trying to win that Super Bowl.”
Pettit: “Let’s go.”
Thomas: “Let’s get it.”
In that moment, Thomas’s lifelong dream was realized.
“I had a couple Zoom calls with them (in) this process and I had a formal meeting with them down at the combine. But I was excited to get the call, it came like three minutes before the pick. I just thank God for the blessing,” Thomas told reporters during a conference call.
“I really didn’t know where I was going to end up. But when they made the call, I was obviously excited. I’m ready to get to work and get down to New York.”
And New York is ready for Thomas.
