SEC East quarterback breakdown: Hendon Hooker best system fit, has best receivers

Tennessee will open its season against Ball State at Neyland Stadium Sept. 1.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. EDT and SEC Network will televise the season-opening matchup.

Redshirt senior Hendon Hooker returns in 2022 as the Vols’ starting quarterback.

He appeared in 13 games for Tennessee during the 2021 season.

Hooker completed 206-of-303 passing attempts, totaling 2,945 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns and three interceptions in 2021. He recorded 620 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 167 attempts for the Vols last season
