The Seattle Mariners (45-35) and the Tampa Bay Rays (38-40) begin a 3-game series Monday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. First pitch is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mariners vs. Rays odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Rays won 4-3 in 2023

The Mariners have struggled in the 1st 6 contests of this 9-game road trip. Seattle dropped 2 of 3 games in Miami over the weekend, and it suffered 2 losses in 3 tries in Cleveland last Tuesday through Thursday. It is just 1-4 in the past 5 outings, while the Over is 5-1 in the 1st 6 games of the trip.

The Rays beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-1 in the series finale Sunday. Tampa Bay returns home for the 1st time since June 11-13, when it took 2 of 3 games from the Chicago Cubs. The Rays are just 2-5 in the past 7 outings in Tropicana Field. The Over has cashed in 6 of the past 9 contests.

These teams met for a 4-game series in St. Pete last season, with the Rays winning the final 3 outings Sept. 8-10 after losing the series opener Sept. 7. The Over cashed in the final 3 meetings of that series, too.

Mariners at Rays picks and predictions

Prediction

Mariners 3, Rays 2

Moneyline

The MARINERS (-110) are a decent play behind Woo, who has pitched tremendously this season. He had an uncharacteristically poor outing in Cleveland last time out, but he still has a WHIP well under 1.000.

The Rays (-110) counter with Bradley, who has been strong at home, but the team has struggled to support him with the proper amount of offense.

There is risk, however, as Seattle has won just once in the past 5 games. Go lightly on the visitors.

Run line/Against the spread

The Rays +1.5 (-190) will cost you nearly 2 times your potential return, and that’s not a recommended betting strategy. If you like Tampa Bay, just play it straight up.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 7.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board.

While the Over has been a frequent happening for the Mariners, roll with the Under. Woo has given up very little this season, and he enters with a sub-2.00 ERA.

The Rays have cashed low in 3 of the past 5 outings, while the Under is 4-1-1 in the past 6 home games, and 7-3-1 in the previous 1 outings at The Trop.
