Sean McVay hopes Darrell Henderson (hamstring) is back by Week 1

Darrell Henderson strained his hamstring Saturday.

The Los Angeles Rams turned up the level of competition a notch on Saturday night at their SoFi Stadium scrimmage, but they did lose one player to injury. Darrell Henderson left early and was unable to return, and after the game, Sean McVay said he had a soft tissue injury.

On Sunday, McVay provided further details saying it’s a strained hamstring for the second-year running back. McVay said the Rams hope Henderson can be back in time for Week 1, but that the missed time will certainly hurt.

Hnederson already appears to be behind Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown in the running back pecking order, and this absence will set him back even further.

Henderson needs every break he can get right now if he wants to be the starter, but he’s not off to a good start. At the very least, he should be a nice change-of-pace back in specific situations, but he has to be available first.
