Sean Clifford meeting with Green Bay Packers

Penn State quarterback adds another NFL team to his pre-draft meeting schedule.

After not being invited to the NFL combine in March, it was going to be an uphill battle for [autotag]Sean Clifford[/autotag] to try and work his way into the back end of the draft.

He performed well at Penn State’s Pro Day on March 24. Clifford was able to showcase his athleticism during the 40-yard dash and 3-cone drill. He was able to use those results to meet with the Ravens, Jets, and Giants during their pre-draft process.

Now it looks like Clifford is set to meet with the Green Bay Packers.

This could be a potentially interesting landing spot for him with all the uncertainty surrounding the franchise about whether current quarterback Aaron Rodgers leaving Green Bay or not. If Rodgers does leave, the Packers are slated to start their 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love.

Despite the high pick being used on Love, he has been a backup to Rodgers for the past two seasons and is largely an unknown commodity.

The question at quarterback could be why the Packers are scheduled to meet with Clifford according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Clifford is the most prolific passer in Penn State history, holding the records for passing yards (10,661) and passing touchdowns (86).

He felt “snubbed” and “disrespected” when not invited to the NFL combine in early March. That could be a motivating factor for him on his journey to try and play in the NFL.

The Packers had a lot of success with Rodgers who felt disrespected by his draft day freefall from the top of the board to 24th overall. Maybe they’re looking for something similar when they eventually meet with Clifford.
