The Seattle Seahawks clutched a win over the New England Patriots Sunday night on the national stage to improve to 2-0 on the season. For their efforts, they get a big jump from No. 4 to No. 2 in Touchdown Wire’s Week 2 NFL power rankings.
“In the entire 2019 season, the Patriots’ remarkable man coverage-based defense allowed just four touchdown passes to receivers,” writes Doug Farrar. “All season long. In Seattle’s 35-30 win over New England on Sunday night, Russell Wilson matched that total all by himself.”
New on @TheNFLWire: Week 2 Power Rankings! Everybody is injured! Russ is cooking at an Anthony Bourdain level! The Titans have Dave Kingman as their kicker! Brees might be done! We need to start talking about Baltimore's defense! And other loud things! https://t.co/wNDYcO3527

“Russ is cooking at an entirely different level than ever before — he has almost as many touchdown passes (nine) as incompletions (11), and at least half of those incompletions have bounced off the hands of his receivers,” Farrar continues. “Wilson leads the league in completion percentage, touchdown passes, Adjusted Net Yards per Pass Attempt, passer rating, and preposterous deep passes. The Cowboys, who allowed Matt Ryan to throw four touchdown passes on Sunday in their comeback win over the Falcons, have to deal with this next.”
The Seahawks and Cowboys are set to square off next Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.
