Rejoice, 12’s!

After wishing and waiting for years to see the beloved Seattle Seahawks throwback uniforms in action, the time is coming soon. The Seahawks officially announced they will don the iconic royal blue and silver threads in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns.

The Seahawks announced the throwbacks would be making their comeback last year during their Week 12 showdown with the Raiders. This was made possible by the NFL finally amending their one-helmet policy and allowing teams to have a second, alternate helmet.

Seattle wore the royal and silver uniforms from their inaugural season in 1976 until 2001. Aside from a few tweaks here or there, this was the look of the Seahawks – and to many older fans, still very much is.

It is interesting Seattle chose a Week 8 showdown with the Browns to unveil the uniforms. Cleveland has a classic, all-white retro uniform themselves. Perhaps the Browns will wear these in a sort of “turn-back-the-clock” themed Sunday afternoon?

Although Week 8 will mark the first time the Seahawks have worn these uniforms since 2001, it might not be the last this year. Team president Chuck Arnold hinted Seattle could wear these uniforms twice in 2023.

If this is the case, I predict it will be during the Thanksgiving Day game against the San Francisco 49ers. Just my speculation on the matter.
