Seahawks safety Jamal Adams ‘pushing it’ to be ready by start of season

Seahawks safety Jamal Adams is working hard to return from his torn quadriceps tendon in order to be ready by the start of the 2023 season.

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams’ campaign was cut short last year when he tore his quadriceps tendon in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. Signs are now pointing to his return in time to start the season.

“It sounds really good,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters Tuesday from the league meetings in Arizona. “We sent our guys out to see him about 10 days ago, and he’s coming in in the next couple of weeks too, so we’re keeping track. It sounds like he’s doing great.

“He’s pushing it, and he’s going to try to bust whatever projections that would keep him from not being ready for the start of the season, he’s looking to get that done, and we’re counting on it, hoping it.”

Carroll did warn that nothing is guaranteed and the team will continue to exercise patience when it comes to Adams’ recovery.

“That’s not what the doctors are saying; they’re being more open, allowing more room for that to see what happens,” Carroll cautioned. “We’ll see what happens. We’re going to be really optimistic about it but support him, and we’re not going to rush it.”
