Seahawks make shocking pick in 2025 NFL Mock Draft

The Seattle Seahawks’ 2024 campaign concluded with a 30-25 Week 18 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The 10-win Seahawks missed the playoffs, meaning they’ve learned their fate in the 2025 NFL Draft. General manager John Schneider will officially possess the No. 18 overall selection.

It’s now mock-draft season for the Seahawks. The Draft Network released their latest first-round projection following the end of Seattle’s season. Dan Harms has Schneider selecting Ohio State safety Lathan Ransom.

“Mike Macdonald has done a fantastic job getting the Seattle defense going in the right direction to close out the season, but he will be looking for a few pieces to help unlock that defense,” Harms wrote. “Lathan Ransom is an exceptionally versatile defensive back with the attitude Macdonald wants in his unit.”

The Seahawks are fairly well-stocked at the safety position. Starters Rayshawn Jenkins, Coby Bryant, and Julian Love are both signed through next season and played high-level football for Macdonald in 2024. It’s worth noting K’Von Wallace is slated for free agency, so Schneider could add a rotational player, but does it require first-round draft capital? Probably not.

Then again, Schneider has been known to make off-the-wall picks throughout his tenure. Ransom is still playing for Ohio State in the College Football Playoff. Ransom has accumulated 68 tackles, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and one interception to date this campaign.
