Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch may run for mayor of Oakland!

Legendary Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is a man of the people. Among the most beloved figures around the National Football League, Lynch’s reputation continues to thrive with each public appearance.

Now, “Beast Mode” is considering running for mayor of Oakland.

“It might be a possibility,” Lynch said on his podcast with California governor Gavin Newsom and Doug Hendrickson, via Christopher Cadalego of Politco.com, announcing a potential run for mayor of Oakland.

Newsom than told Lynch that that polling shows that the five-time Pro Bowler has a favorable rating of 43 percent in Oakland — and an unfavorable rating of only seven percent, making a run at mayor a legitimate possibility.

“That’s off the charts, brother,” Newsom said. “Seven percent unfavorable? That never has happened in my life.”

Current Oakland mayor Sheng Thao is at risk of facing a potential recall election. If that happens, the possibility of Lynch running for mayor becomes opportunistic.

“We don’t want to jump the gun just yet, from what I was told,” Lynch said. “I got a good internal team, you know, and I want to make sure I take this off-line with my internal team and make sure this is something that we really wanna do.”

Lynch hails from Oakland played the majority of his illustrious career on the West Coast. After six seasons in Seattle (2010-15), Lynch played for his hometown Raiders for two campaigns (2017-18). He later concluded his career by reuniting with the Seahawks for one final season in 2019.

Lynch has also maintained ties to the local community. He’s a partial owner in the Seattle Kraken (NHL), FCF Beasts (Fan Controlled Football League), and the Bay Area Panthers (Indoor Football League).

A run for mayor would be so epic. Beast Mode has our vote!
