Seahawks K.J. Wright nominated for SCC’s Men’s Sports Star of the Year

Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright has been nominated for the Seattle Sports Commission’s Men’s Sports Star of the Year Award.

The Seattle Sports Commission has announced the nominees for this year’s Men’s Sports Star of the Year Awards and Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright has earned himself a spot in the mix.

Wright joins UW’s Elijah Molden, WSU’s Kyle Manzardo, Mariners’ Kyle Lewis and Sounders’ Jordan Morris, who have also been nominated for the award.

“This season was everything that I hoped it would be, just my 10th year with Seattle, I was balling just looking good making plays all over the field, and it felt really, really good, because a lot of people counted me out,” Wright said via the Seahawks website. “A lot of people doubted that I could do it, and I proved to myself how good I am, I proved to the whole world how good I am.

“So I’m proud of myself, I’m proud of my team for helping me get here.”

Wright finished the year logging 86 combined tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 10 passes defensed, two sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
