Jamal Adams is confident that he will play in the Seattle Seahawks’ wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday despite concerns about the left shoulder injury he suffered in Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers.
“No question in my mind, I’m playing, man,” Adams told reporters on Wednesday before practice. “Look, as long as these legs are moving man, as long as my faith is with the man upstairs, which is very strong, I’m going to be out there. So there was never no doubt in my mind that I wasn’t playing, so let’s get that out there. I’m full-go.”
Although he was ultimately limited in Wednesday’s practice, Adams insisted that his shoulder will be healthy enough by game day.
“I’m not going to be limited to anything,” Adams said. “I’m full-go. I’m full energy. I’m me. I’m going out there to continue to make plays and continue to help the team win. That’s what I’m about.”
The fourth-year safety is coming off a solid regular season that earned him a Pro Bowl nod despite missing four games. He set a new record for sacks by a defensive back with 9.5 and racked up 83 tackles (59 solo), three passes defended, and a forced fumble.
Adams has also been playing through an injury to his right shoulder since Week 10 and stated he has two broken fingers at the moment, so concern about his health for the postseason is certainly understandable. However, he seems determined to play through his injuries and help the Seahawks win no matter the cost.
“I’m a savage, bro,” Adams said. “I’m a warrior, man. It doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes. It’s not about me. It’s always going to be bigger than me. It’s about this team. It’s about my brothers. It’s about my family back home, my why. So again, I’m excited for this opportunity. It doesn’t matter what obstacle is thrown my way. I always figure it out and that’s all that matters, man. So I’m looking forward to the matchup.”
The game will take place on Saturday, Jan. 9 at Lumen Field at 1:40 p.m. PT.
