Seahawks injury updates: Tyler Lockett, Jamal Adams, more

Injury updates for the Seahawks heading into their Week 8 game against the Browns

A lot of Seahawks have been bitten by the injury bug this season. Wednesday’s initial injury report was about as long as it gets at any point in the year, let alone before midseason. The list of DNPs was eight names long, followed by another seven that were limited. Whether it’s just bad luck or a carry-over from a training camp that the front office has since admitted got a little too physical, it seems like they’ll have to embrace the next-man-up mantra the rest of the season.

There are at least two silver linings this week, though. Heading into today’s home game against the Browns, two players are listed as questionable and both should be good to go. As head coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday and Ian Rapoport reminded us all today, wide receiver Tyler Lockett (hamstring) and strong safety Jamal Adams (knee) are both expected to play.

Through six games Lockett has 27 catches, 289 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Adams has appeared in three games, totaling 12 tackles.

One player is listed as doubtful for today’s game – guard Phil Haynes. He will be replaced by rookie Anthony Bradford, who’s shown tremendous promise, at least as a run blocker.

The biggest injury though is still the mysterious knee issue for right tackle Abe Lucas. He is still on the injured reserve list and it doesn’t sound like Carroll is confident he will return anytime soon. How to replace Lucas may be the single greatest x-factor in today’s game.

Since Charles Cross returned at left tackle, the Seahawks have been able to move Stone Forsythe over to the right side and replace Jake Curhan, who had been the weakest link in the chain. While Forsythe is an upgrade over Curhan it’s a low bar. So, we may see 41-year old veteran Jason Peters – who’s been elevated from the practice squad – take over at right tackle and do his best to contain Myles Garrett.
