NFL power rankings over the last few weeks have mostly been guessing games based on last year’s standings combined with clubs’ draft picks, roster moves over the offseason and strength of schedules in 2020.

Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports has now put together his final power rankings before the games begin. The NFL regular season kicks off Thursday night between the Texans and Chiefs, who top his list at the No. 1 spot. The Seahawks don’t make an appearance until No. 12.

“In last 10 months they’ve traded for safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, arguably league’s top tandem . . . assuming suspect pass rush doesn’t consistently expose duo,” Davis writes.

He is correct in stating that Seattle’s pass rush remains a concern, even though coach Pete Carroll is preaching confidence despite losing Jadeveon Clowney to the Titans.

The Seahawks will have their first chance to prove Davis wrong on Sunday morning when they square off against the Falcons in Atlanta.
