The Seattle Seahawks didn’t suffer any major injuries in their Week-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals but they could be thin at the running back spot for the near future.

Starter Chris Carson, who left Sunday’s matchup with a foot injury, might very well miss the 49ers contest Week 8.

“Chris has a mid-food sprain, there something there we could see so we just have to go week-to-week and see what happens,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday afternoon. “He was real determined to say ‘I can go with it,’ but we won’t know until the end of the week for sure.”

Backup running backs Travis Homer and Carols Hyde also suffered some dings in Arizona. Carroll confirmed Homer has a bruised knee, but it’s “something he has a chance to recover from.” As for Hyde, Carroll said he had “a little tightness in the hammy that we’re watching.”

The Seahawks could eventually get some help from Rashaad Penny when he returns from the physically unable to perform list, although that likely won’t be this week.

“I saw him working out today, and he looked pretty good,” Carroll said. “That’s on the docs, we’ve got to wait and see what they say. I don’t have the timeline on that. But he was working out on the grass and he was running hard today, so he’s getting close.”

The Seahawks have an off day Tuesday but return to practice at the VMAC on Wednesday.
