Michigan football will meet Texas on the football field for just the second time in school history, and the first meeting came in the Rose Bowl after the 2004 season. But this game will be at The Big House, and there’s a good chance some big names and familiar faces will roam the sidelines in Ann Arbor.
According to WXYZ’s Brad Galli, who does a weekly interview with head coach Sherrone Moore, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter will serve as the Wolverines’ honorary captain for the game, and film star Matthew McConaughey is on the list of expected visitors for the big game.

It’s not unusual for big sports stars and actors to appear on the Michigan sideline. Jeter has been to a number of games as he’s a Michigan native and big fan of the Wolverines. But over the years, we’ve spotted Yankees star Aaron Judge, NBA legend Michael Jordan (he was the honorary captain for the 2016 season opener), Maria Shriver, Flavor Flav, Blake Griffin, Miguel Cabrera, TJ Hockenson, actor Jon Glaser, the Sklar Brothers, actor Patrick Stewart, actor Wendell Pierce, and many more gracing the sidelines.
But McConaughey may be the biggest star to do so, and he’s a mainstay in Austin for Longhorn games.
