The Washington Commanders have hit a skid this season after starting 2-0 through the first two weeks. With the loss to Philadelphia in Week 8, Washington sits at 3-5 and will have some decisions to make ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
But there was one BIG positive for the Commanders. That was quarterback Sam Howell.
The former North Carolina quarterback had a career day in the loss to the Eagles, completing 39 of his 52 attempts for 397 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Howell was sharp again vs. the Eagles and did what he could to put his team in a position to win the game.
This is one of the best throws i've seen Sam Howell make in the NFL.

While the week didn’t end in a win and there are decisions to be made, it should be a little comforting to know that the Commanders may have a franchise guy in Howell. Another thing to note is that Howell was sacked just one time and it wasn’t on him.
That’s significant because going into this game he was the most sacked quarterback in the NFL and a lot of that was on him for holding the football too long.
Now, Howell looks to continue his hot play as the Commanders host the New England Patriots in Week 9.
