Sam Howell has helped lead the Washington Commanders to a 2-0 start on the season with wins over Arizona and Denver so far. After his latest win, a comeback in Denver, Howell earned the praise of one of his teammates.
Pass rusher Chase Young and Howell talked to Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports for a postgame interview. In that interview, Young had this to say about his quarterback with him standing right next to him.
“He’s that dude,” Young said with a smile. “We know he that dude. We been knew he that dude. Sammy Sosa, that’s all I can say.”

It’s awesome to see Howell get that praise from a player like Young who is one of the better pass rushers in the league. Getting that confidence up is huge for Howell, especially after he was passed up by teams in the 2022 NFL draft before Washington took hin.
There’s still a lot to prove for Howell in terms of being the franchise guy, but his career is off to a hot start with a 3-0 record in games he’s started in and a 2-0 record this season.
